Heywood Walter Seton-Karr, Englishman and former Army captain of the Gordon Highlanders, one of the British Army's most celebrated regiments, came to Alaska in 1886. En route, he met two Americans, William Libbey of Princeton, New Jersey, and Frederick Schwatka, an Army officer who had previously explored the Yukon River, and joined with them in an expedition to climb Mt.
